Balance Healthy Diet and ExerciseMost of us will agree that a healthy balance in life is important. Balance promotes happiness, health, and well being. This is true for life in general. But it is also true for our daily diet and exercise. A healthy diet is, among other things, one which provides a healthy balance of nutrients, vitamins, protein, carbohydrates, fat, amino acids, etc. Moderation in all things. This is just good common sense. There are plenty of diets out there. Some good. Plenty bad. In my opinion, the ones that take you to extremes are not worth it in the long run. They may make a difference in the short term, but the also involve risks, and the benefits may be only short lived at best. I would encourage anyone who needs to drop some unwanted pounds to take the long view. Change your habits in such a way that you can keep the weight off once you lose it. Make sure to combine a healthy diet regimen with a sensible daily exercise and fitness routine. Healthy diet and overall fitness become increasingly important when you are over forty years old. Having said that, I do from time to time, use a few tricks to lose weight quickly if I need to. But again, this is done with balance and moderation. Through experimentation, I have learned what works for me. Then if I need to trim inches, then I can do so by making some moderate adjustments to what I eat for my daily diet. I can also adjust my exercise regimen. But the key here is that I have learned what works for me. You must do the same for yourself. Education is the key. Set goals for yourself. Weight management goals are just as important as goals in other areas of your life. How do you want to transform your body? Lose weight? Increase muscle mass? Trim inches? Then again, educate yourself on how to meet those goals. Experiment a little. Measure your progress. Then adjust. Combining a moderate amount of daily exercise with a healthy diet will help you achieve your weight management goals. Develop a formula based on your current health, your body type, age and gender. Set a daily target for how much you should be eating in terms of protein, carbs, and fat. Personally, I don’t worry too much about calories. I have educated myself about the general types of foods that work for me. Then I just keep a healthy balance of protein (120g), carbohydrates (55g), and fat (20g). If I am eating the right types of healthy foods, and balance these three, the calories simply fall into place. One less thing to worry about. Finally, if you are just starting out, carefully plan each meal and keep track of the main 3 — protein, carbs, fat. Once you get into a rhythm, you won’t have to do that as much. But you must do it at first in order to learn what works best for you. Be sure to take vitamins. And get a moderate amount of exercise. |
